What is a dropset?
In a dropset you lower the weight by about 10-25% right after muscle failure and keep going without rest. That gets you 1 to 4 extra reps.
Too little time under tension
If a set lasts less than about 50 seconds, the stimulus is limited. A dropset adds that time under tension.
Uneven strength curve
Some machines have a sticking point. With a dropset you still get full reps afterwards.
Variety in your training
A new stimulus keeps your training challenging and mentally fresh.
What does a dropset pin do?
A dropset pin is a selector pin that ejects itself from the stack as soon as the tension drops. The weight changes automatically, without you getting up.
- 1 Regular pin in the light weight.
- 2 Dropset pin in the heavy starting weight.
- 3 Train to failure and let the stack rest.
- 4 The pin pops out: keep going with less weight.

Why a dropset pin?
Without a dropset pin you get up, pull the pin out and lose precious seconds. With a dropset pin you stay seated and keep going straight away.
Tip: combine two dropset pins for a double drop, three weights in one set.
